LESSON 4 INSTRUCTIONS:
This week we are learning the note F.
How to practice the
piano song
on page 3. 1. First look at the music. This song is written in the treble
clef and is for the right hand only. Next notice the 4/4 time
signature. This means that there are
4 counts per measure and a quarter note gets 1 count. 2. The blue numbers next to the notes represents the finger you will use to
play that note. Always use the correct fingers. 3. Below the notes you will find the counting. This song is written with
only whole notes and each whole note has to be held for 4 counts. I
always suggest to count out loud and count with an even and steady beat. 4. Practice each line separately. Play each line several times until it
becomes easy, then move to the next line and practice only that line.
Once you have mastered line 2 you can start at line 1 and play through line
2. Let's set up good practice habits now, and learning the piano will be
easier and faster. 5. I also suggest that say the name of the notes out loud. This
will help you to learn them faster.
Practice this song several times a day. The idea
is to associate the notes on the music with playing the notes
on the piano. By practicing over and over you will form
associations with reflexes. When you see a note on the music
your fingers will automatically play that note without having
to stop and think, what is the name of this note and where is it
on the piano. This automatic reflex is a building process and
the more you practice the sooner it will be learned.
Do not be
in a hurry to learn the first few lessons, they are the most important regardless how simple they may seem. Learning How to Read Music and Time Signatures, Playing Whole Notes. |
