Playing White Christmas, first of all, memorize the song.
Right Hand progressions
1. The melody is played with the 5 finger.
2. The right hand: Position your right hand starting with
the CM7 chord: E-B-E (3-7-10)
3. Hold the hand position and move up to F: F-C-F (3-7-10)
4. Hold the hand position and move to E: E-B-E
This pattern continues following the melody until the Chorus.
Left Hand: Also, holds the original position up and down the meldoy
1. Start with CM7: C-G-C (1-5-8)
2. Hold the hand position and move to Dm7: D-A-D (1-5-8)
Continue this pattern to the chorus.
If you would like to make this a technical exercise, try playing the
5 finger in the right hand louder then the rest of the notes below.
This is the melody, and it could be played louder. It takes some
work, but try it. Practice playing 1 chord at a time in the right
hand and play the top note louder than the rest. You are separating
your fingers gaining control over each finger.
This technique has to be used if you are playing Chopin Waltzes, and
is very important to master in classical or jazz music. A Hint would be
to relax the fingers and stiffen only the 5 finger.
