LESSON 17 INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Chord Compositions. "Scarborough Fair" This
week play Scarborough fair with both hands. I
suggest for the first practice to play hands alone.
Analyzing the chord structure: All of the chords are played in their
root position. Fingering for chords in root position is 5-3-1.
There
are only 4 chords to learn Em, D, G and A. This song is written
in a minor scale, which will be studied at a later time, but notice
the Sharp symbol that sits next to the clef and the time signature.
The sharp sits with the F line through the middle, which means that
all the F's will be sharped throughout the song. Notice in
measure
14 that the 3 finger crosses over the thumb. This is an example of
using scale fingering in a composition.
I have
written an accompaniment that can be played with your song. Download the
midi and have fun playing the song with other instruments. There is a 2 bar intro before you start playing.
