LESSON 22 INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Heart and Soul: I added some blues licks to this
song. How do I know which notes to play.
1. I used the blue notes on C Chord (E flat), and the blue notes on F (A flat). Then I improvised on the
chord. I used the notes in the chord plus the blue notes and made
a melodic, rhythmic passage. This is called
improvisation. This is just an idea and a practice to getting your fingers in certain positions. Students ask, how do
you know what to play, well you will learn exactly also, just be patient
and learn your lessons well. We will study the blues scales and motivic
development later so you can improvise also. For now I hope you have fun with
this.
3. E Scale. Practice each measure 5-10 times or more before moving
to the next measure.
If you like
the blues on Heart and Soul, a good thing would be to memorize this
song.
There is a lot to practice in this lesson. Take your time a do a
little at each practice session. You will have 2 weeks to work on
the E Scale.
