Made Easy..With Alana..Telling All
“I know you've seen this before, but has it been compiled
in step x steps, or in bits and pieces?
Let's start from
....the beginning with How to play Jazz chords...move through the
...How to play Jazz scales and modal scales......Add Rhythm, Bass Lines, Improv, Blues
and more. WITHOUT Spending months, Hundreds of Dollars and struggling to learn…”
WARNING: This is not a hear and Play Method.
You will actually learn how to apply every lesson to your own songs.
I've been where you are, frustrated and
trying to put the pieces together myself as I couldn't find a
teacher in the Detroit area who knew how to teach jazz and advanced arranging.
I was a classical graduate, and yet, I could only play classical music. I
knew that there was always a
system and explanation to music, so why couldn't I find a teacher who could
teach me how to apply
what I learned in college, into jazz or advanced arranging?
I soon discovered that this knowledge was rarely taught and was being passed
down from artist to artist.
So the only way was to study with a professional that was in the inner circle of
those artists, and I
found him, Bud Conway.
His wife asked me to pass on his body of work, and so I started teaching
privately, not realizing that the
only guide I had to a teaching method was my own trial and error.
Remember, I was a college graduate, and
most of my students weren't, so I had to come up with a teaching method to
prepare students, to reach
a level where I could teach jazz and advanced arranging.
Now, I am giving this to you, in an organized, step x step system,
and..........I don't leave out important
information, I tell all, because I want you to be successful.
.........Jazz Piano isn't just improv...........
Did you know that the same foundation of chords & scales used in "Jazz" is the
same foundation you use in building big beautiful contemporary music?
Jazz just takes the same principles and formulas, changes the rhythms, layers
more dissonant tones,
and adds improv.
Once you have the foundation you can:
-
Add beautiful intros
like this one:
-
Add jazz scales to fill-in your music;
-
Add fab chords to your music to get a 'big' - 'full'
sound;
-
Embellish melodies for
interest;
-
Add interest & drama
to your music;
-
Express your own creativity;
-
Add improv
But......you can't do it alone, you have to be guided step x step
and then shown how each formula
is applied in actual music.
If you miss a step you'll get confused and not accomplish your
goal.
Plus, once you start adding chords and scales to your music, you need to know
how
to arrange them between the hands.
I've been where you are,
& knew there had to be a system of learning advanced piano that wasn't
just a hear and play. I found there was a system in place, but it
was passed on from musician to
musician. Now, it's coming out, especially with the internet, but
students are having to piece all of the
information together themselves and it's just not working.
So what if you had a blue-print with exact steps so you know exactly how to
play-arrange-style
or improvise without reading music arrangements?
This body of work is the Bible to all your
formulas and step to Jazz and
Advanced Arranging;
-
I'm telling every formula, to Jazz chords & Jazz
Scales;
-
Then you'll learn how to use them, there are exact
Rules.
-
Using actual jazz songs for examples;
-
How to use fingering and my Tips and Tricks the
quickest methods
for zipping up and down the piano;
-
How to play in different styles such as comping
chords, opening up the chords
bass lines, and improv.
-
And much more.........
I know my 7 chords & major scales, can I start here?
Yes, this is perfect!
Let's break it down so you can understand your success learning curve
Fromula: Starting with Lead Sheet;
*****Melody + add hand positions+add chords+add scales+add styling*****
Sounds Easy, and it can be..Easy & Fun...
Has This happened to you?
You have a new piece of music, and don't know where to start
or what to do?
-
First build the foundation of music;
1) Start simply with melody and chord, choose 1 out of 2 Secret
Hand Positions
I use in the left hand. Already your music sounds full.
2) Let's add a few chords to fill-in all those empty spots or add
more
drama & emotion. This is easy because you know your
choices;
3) What do you do with the right hand? I'll show you my
formula
to add tones to the right hand, and it can be used with all
music.
This makes it simple, when you know exactly what notes to use
and how to play them.
Even if you stopped here, you can now play any song at a new
level.
-
Let's add scales either for improv or beautiful
runs;
1) Adding a scale to your arrangement, fills out your music and
adds
another dimension. My favorites are the minor scales &
the diminished Scales.
2) There is a simple method of zipping scales up and down the piano
and with a little practice, you can do it too.
3) You can also use the scales to embellish the melody or add
improv to music.
-
Choose a style;
1) Keep the original feel of the song but embellish it with
extensions
& scales. You will have harmony between the hands.
2. Add a jazz rhythm with improv. Now you will want to add
either
a bass line, or a form of comping chords. The left hand
turns into
a drum for the right hand to work against.
3. Add blues rhythm and licks. This is fun and
you can get that blues feeling easily.
.........Let's do it right the first time, so we don't have all this confusion.
have start from scratch again, and CLEAR OUT
all those wrong
misconceptions of music, which makes learning even harder...........
Learning is like the old
recordings on records. We set in the groove and then we can't change it.
-
Let's keep it simple,
learn the formulas, and How's and apply it to a song
-
Let's put our hands in
positions that you will use over and over again.
-
There are many wrong
myths and formulas using jazz scales. But..The good news
is that this is also simple and is just a matter of following the
blue-print;
-
Many times music has
the wrong chord markings and ends up confusing you, It
won't happen any more;
-
You're trying to do improv or add scales to your music and your fingers
get twisted.
You need to know how to choose your fingering, or you won't be able
to zip up and down.

Why change or add chords to songs?
a) You want to either create drama. Changing a Chord simple from a
major chord to a minor
chords changes the feeling of movement. 1 chord might
feel like you are finished with
your idea, while other chords make you feel movement.
b) To fill-in all of those blank spaces.
c) Add dissonant jazz sounds. How much dissonance is up to you in
your choices. |
