I’m Alana LaGrange of Music and You, and I’m known for my fun
and easy methods to learning and playing chords.
I've been teaching Piano from novices to
experts online since 2000. In 2007 I
started the "live on-line piano classes" and it was so much
fun and such a success but.......I had so many concert dates in 2008 that I
couldn't continue with
my intimate 1 of a kind classes.
In these classes, we learned how to use chords in arranging,
but I had never thought about an actual live class teaching
how to learn the basic chords.
I Started
thinking about the Chords Class quite by ACCIDENT!
I was signing autographs after a concert
and a women came up to me and told
me how she loved going to my site and printing the new piano
arrangements.
I must have looked at her rather strange because she said,
"Is it OK that I learn
your piano arrangements?"
"Well, of course it's OK, but why aren't you writing your
own arrangements?"
"I don't know chords" was her response.
"Have you checked out the Intermediate
Lessons, because this is where you will learn chords?"
"Oh yes, but I didn't think I could learn chords. I
had some old chord books and tried
to learn, but never got past the C, F, and G chords, let
alone learn minors and 7 chords."
At that point, I asked her if she
could spend 3 hours on a live seminar with me, would
she be encouraged to learn chords.
Well, yes, I want to play just like you, Can I?"
This is the point that started the
"Starter
Chords Workshop".
How did I
learn and why did a classical artist want to learn chords?
Here I am going to college to studying music and all I could
play was the classics.
I loved classical music, but it was always such a stiff setting,
concert style, and not creative.
This was great, but I also heard contemporary music I wanted to
play. Here I was studying music and couldn't kick up my heals and get that
piano rock'n, and have fun. I wanted to be able to play
any song, play with other musicians, and singers, and most of
all be creative.
I knew that in order to do this, I had to learn chords,
but.......there was absolutely no one who could teach me chords. It was all done in a "classical venue' and
I knew it had to be easier than the way I was learning. So, I bought some chord books and learned the
basic chords myself. This allowed me to:
a) Sight read music fast....Once I learned my
chords, I could scan the music, and figure out what chord
I could use, and could play any and all music immediately. b) I could transpose music on the spot. c) I learned how to accompany singers and other musicians. d) I could play any music I wanted.
As I started to figure out how this whole
chord thing worked...I became free of reading other
musicians arrangements.
I also started writing the chords in my classical music I
was learning at college. I found I could remember chord progressions faster than reading all that music.
It was just a guide to memorizing music, and it worked.
Now, I can share all of my
knowledge and tested teaching materials with everyone.
I am giving you the template
and the formulas to learn arranging immediately.
In fact;

-
With my templates and expertise, it will be fun and
easy to learn all your chords, I guarantee;
-
Using the correct 'mind maps' it's easy to learn
when it's presented step x step;
-
I'm giving you adult songs with specific chord
progressions, so you will enjoy practicing.
-
If you play well but are just learning arranging,
this is the perfect prerequisite for the 'Musical Treasures Workshop'.
-
Teachers......Learn how to get your students
playing immediately with chords. Just follow my lead.
-
Once you learn the chords, there is lots
of music on the website to practice and have fun.
Ah, music is fun!
So How does
this work?
-
It's so
easy, it's just like being live with your teacher
a) You receive a ...call in number.....and you call in at
the designated time. b) Or, you can go to a designated page and listen at your
computer
(if you don't have long distance) c) Be at your piano, remember...these are live 'At the
Piano"
Alana, why are you giving
all this information at such a low cost when others are charging more for music and
DVD's?
Believe me, I do check out other piano
sites, and have found, that they leave out a lot of
information, so they can sell more classes and DVD's.
Or....they either teach very beginning basics or only
advanced/Jazz arranging. Students need a teacher that
can start them at the beginning always preparing them for
advanced work.
I have also found that a personal relationship with your
teacher will help you learn faster and easier than DVD's.
Most DVD's will only sit and collect dust.
Plus, learning 'Starter Chords' should be easy to
learn and fun, and it should not take months to
learn.
***I don't want to be like all the others as
who else,
will give you such hands on musical learning? ***If you are going to learn piano, it is of the utmost
importance that you can learn correctly and easily.
***If I am going to teach, I must use every avenue possible
for the best quality and
proficiency
possible.
